The Flood
In 2019 a flood happened in the southwestern province of Iran, Khuzestan. It affected everyone, especially the villagers in the suburbs. The roads were blocked, all the farming lands were flooded, and people lost their homes, livestock, and life savings.
Our team, including a group of doctors, a documentary group, and a group of construction workers, traveled to assist these people in relocating to a temporary camp set up by the Red Cross, equipped with tents and food. We faced many challenges along the way. We did not speak the local language, which complicated communication. Additionally, There were two tribes in the village who had feuds with each other, so we had to keep them separated during the relocation. Cultural sensitivities also posed challenges. The men were very sensitive about filming women, so we had to be extra careful not to cause any problems. We also encountered many other challenges as we progressed. Despite these, we remained committed to supporting the community during this crisis.
As the head of cinematography for the crew, I captured much of this journey. Below is a video collage of a few raw footage clips I shot during the project. Please note that, due to copyright restrictions, I cannot share the full documentary or any of the interviews.
